Cannes Film Festival 2012; Fan Bingbing

May 17, 2012 9:41 pm

I LIVE for Fan Bingbing and she seriously never disappointing. Ever since this Chinese actress started going to The Cannes Film Festival like 3 years ago, she has really changed up the red carpet game. She is probably now the undisputed queen of the Cannes red carpet. When will she hit the Oscars!!!

Below is Fan Bingbing on day #2 at the Cannes Film Festival.

Check out the beading and embroidery! Fan Bingbing was also wearing Chopard jewelry.

Cannes Film Festival 2012; Fan Bingbing

12:30 am

The 2012 Cannes Film Festival just kicked off and if you have been following my blog for the last 2 years, you will know that there are only two people that matter to me at The Cannes Film Festival red carpet…Naomi Campbell for obvious reasons and the Chinese fashion glamour plate, Fan Bingbing.

As is the customary with Fan Bingbing, she made her entrance in a traditional Chinese designer. She usually follows it up with Parisian haute couture designers especially Elie Saab.

What I love about her is that every single detail looks like it is thought of and planned months in advance because she always has interesting hair and bags to match every gown. She loves drama and she executes it flawlessly!

Here is Fan Bingbing on day 1. More to come, she NEVER disappoints.

The gown is by Christopher Bu and has embroideries which tells the stories of the four beauties of ancient China.

Fan’s hair is a symbol of the Tang dynasty’s noble women. The green accents on her gown were complemented with emerald Chopard jewels

The clutch is by Elie Saab

I can’t wait for her to make her long awaited debut at the Oscars whenever that is.

Suri’s Burn Book

May 15, 2012 7:02 am

Suri Cruise

I can tell you that currently, my favorite blog out there right now other than my own is Suri’s Burn Book.

It is very clever, candid and funny, a celebrity kids blog. It is billed as “A study in Suri and the people who disappoint her.”

It is also kinda mean but you are made to believe that it is actually Suri that is writing it so it kinda feels OK when she is mean because, she is a little girl! In the blog, she has her favorite past times such as glob trotting and fashion. She also has her favorite people and enemies which includes her parents! Soooo mean!!!

Please let this be a phase I am going through because I am sure the people on the receiving end of Suri’s wrath are probably not amused.

Rebranding Africa; VOGUE

12:59 am

The long awaited L’Uomo Vogue May issue dedicated to Africa is about to hit news stands and we get a sneak peak on the cover.

Could Vogue not find a better representative for their groundbreaking first ever Africa issue than Ban Ki-Moon? He is Chinese!!!

Just saying… I was available, all they had to do was ask!

Franca Sozzani, editor of Vogue Italia says:

“All the pictures are made in a glamorous way — there is nothing sad, trashy or poor. People may say that Vogue does not want to talk about sickness and poverty, but if we can give an uplifting image, it is helping people who would not have considered Africa at all. The whole issue is packed with portraits of local personalities: not just presidents, first ladies and queens, but also artists, singers, musicians, actors, stylists, writers, models. Every one has been portrayed in a positive light. They all agreed to take part in the issue precisely because presenting a positive image of the continent means focusing world attention on an area that has been hitherto excluded.”

Well, I am glad to see that others are now jumping on the Lamu Tamu bandwagon. Like Obama, everyone is evolving.

According to the New York Times,

The Vogue Italia editor has been appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for Fashion4Development — a global campaign that uses fashion-based initiatives to support the United Nations’ wider issues in helping Africa.
