Cannes Film Festival 2012; Fan Bingbing
I LIVE for Fan Bingbing and she seriously never disappointing. Ever since this Chinese actress started going to The Cannes Film Festival like 3 years ago, she has really changed up the red carpet game. She is probably now the undisputed queen of the Cannes red carpet. When will she hit the Oscars!!!
Below is Fan Bingbing on day #2 at the Cannes Film Festival.
BEWARE OF MR. BAKER
The Hot Docs Film Festival just concluded in Toronto and out of the 6 films I watched, Beware Of Mr. Baker was my favorite documentary.
It depicts the fast life and times, highs and lows of the legendary drummer, Ginger Baker.
I will confess that the only reason I watched it is because I was forced to by my friend who had got me the ticket. This is not the type of documentary that I would usually watch. I was pleasantly surprised that I liked it. A moving and entertaining human story that was filmed beautifully.
Crazy Kiya Re
I am currently going through a Bollywood phase right now which happens to me about once every two years. This is a time when i go crazy on youtube watching movie dance scenes and getting inspired by everything from the colors, dancing and the beauty!
Check out Aishwarya Rai in Crazy Kiya Re below. I love the dialogue in the beginning which proceeds and gives way to a hot dance number.
P.S, the outfit I am wearing tonight is very Bollywood inspired, pictures coming up tomorrow!
Actors Playing Legends
Last week the news broke that Lindsay Lohan was going to play the recently departed dame Elizabeth Taylor in a movie and, I shared my thoughts on that with you. For whatever reason today, I remembered other actors who have managed to successfully play infamous and legendary people convincingly, below are my favorite. Lets give my girl Lindsay a chance, if the people below can do it, then so can she!

Forest Whitaker as Idi Amin, this to me was the best portrayal of an African by an American actor... and I am usually very critical of such attempts.
Speaking of the legendary Elizabeth Taylor, we all remember her in Cleopatra. I know she obviously looked and sounded nothing like an Ancient Egyptian queen but, she OWNED IT! She turned it out in an unforgettable performance that now makes it impossible to think of Cleopatra in any other likeness than the one portrayed by Elizabeth Taylor.
Lindsay Lohan As Elizabeth Taylor
The movie will focus on Elizabeth Taylor’s romance with Richard Burton. Even though I really love LindsayLohan and I am not ashamed to say it, I find it really tricky playing legends (living or departed). Even Michelle Williams Oscar winning performance as Marilyn Monroe quite honestly did nothing for me. Great acting yes but, I did not for one minute imagine that I was watching Marilyn Monroe and, I suspect I will feel the same way about Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor.
For an actor, work is work but good luck in trying to convince some cynical audience members like myself to imagine you as the legend you are playing.
On second thoughts, did anyone watch Lindsay in The Parent Trap, she could pull it off!!!
Sur la piste du Marsupilami
There is a French explorer comedy coming out next month called Sur la piste du Marsupilami (On The Trail of Marsupilami). It features Supermodel Liya Kebede and now I feel like I need to watch it.
I think this is the trailer below.
SHAME
Today I watched a very entertaining movie that was very sexually charged and erotic. SHAME is the Steve McQueen directed movie starring Michael Fassbender (the guy that plays a young Magnito in X-Men) and Carey Mulligan. I don’t know what else to say other than I liked it but then again, I do tend to appreciate rather dark and twisted movies.
Check out the trailer for Shame below, it is a bit deceiving and the movie is nothing like the trailer… IT’S BETTER! I guess they did not want to give anything away, trust me.
The Bad And The Beautiful
I just happened to catch this flick on TCM last night before bed. The Bad And The Beautiful stars Kirk Douglas and the ravishing beauty Lana Turner.

I only caught 5 minutes of it and, going by Lana Turners dress alone in the clip above, I am going to rent it this week and watch it from the beginning.
Below is the trailer.
The Skin I Live In; La Piel Que Habito.
I don’t think that I will watch a more entertaining suspense thriller DRAMA ever, absolutely fantastic!
Today I went to the World Premier of the Pedro Almodovar directed movie, The Skin I Live In. It stars Antonio Banderas and Elena Anaya.
I will not get into any details about this fantastic movie except to tell you that YOU MUST go watch it whenever it comes out.
The lesson of this story is, never forget who you really are… it’s the one thing that they cannot change or take away.
Last Night
I am loving the Toronto Film Festival and this being my first night out, I kicked things off with a bang at the Thompson Hotel residents at a house party. FUN!
Trishana is one of those movies that you have to watch. I cannot say or give any details because I don’t want to give anything away. It is a story of a girl from a rural village in India meeting the son of a rich hotelier. It is mostly in English with some Hindi. See the trailer below:

Then we tried to go to Nikki Beach but it was at capacity and nobody was being let through. Bono was there on Thursday night.
