BEWARE OF MR. BAKER
The Hot Docs Film Festival just concluded in Toronto and out of the 6 films I watched, Beware Of Mr. Baker was my favorite documentary.
It depicts the fast life and times, highs and lows of the legendary drummer, Ginger Baker.
I will confess that the only reason I watched it is because I was forced to by my friend who had got me the ticket. This is not the type of documentary that I would usually watch. I was pleasantly surprised that I liked it. A moving and entertaining human story that was filmed beautifully.
Made In Africa
I feel like this is turning into a music blog the way I have been touched by the power of song this week.
The latest being a video by Stephen Marley which just dropped today and it is appropriately titled, Made In Africa and it features Wale. I thought the video was beautiful and I am pretty sure it was filmed in Ethiopia. The song in itself is a good World Music track and I was really feeling it.
Enjoy, Made In Africa by Stephen Marley.
This should be the soundtrack of my blog!
Love You Like A Big Schlong
Again, you heard it here first and you’re welcome!
This has to be the funniest parody I have ever seen and from another one from RuPaul’s Drag Race. Enjoy Willam’s rendition of the Selena Gomez hit, Love You Like A Love Song… only his version is titled Love You Like A Big Schlong.
Deborah Anne Dyer: ICON
One of my favorite vocalists of all time is the very raw and edgy exotic beauty, Deborah Anne Dyer. She is most notably known by her stage name Skin or, as the lead singer for the band, Skunk Anansie.
Her music style is very rock/ underground/ punk… I am not the Rolling Stones magazine so that’s the best way I know how to describe her music.

She is very Grace Jones you might say, I think the visual aesthetic is the same but they are very different in many ways.
Below, is my favorite live performance of her. A duet of one of her songs with the legendary Luciano Pavarotti. I will let you form your own opinion on how awesome she is.
If that wasn’t love, then I don’t know what is. Speaking of love, this year she released an epic dance track called If This Ain’t Love. I am currently listening and dancing to it really hard, I am filing this one under summer ANTHEM!
Enjoy If This Ain’t Love, by DJ Erick Morillo & Eddie Thoneick feat. Skin
Rihanna; Where Have You Been
Rihanna just dropped her video for her dance track Where Have You Been. For some reason I thought the song came out a long time ago! I believed I went insane when the DJ played it last year at a Halloween party.
Anyway, I like the song, I love the video and I like the tribal theme.
The video reminded me of this picture I took a while back wearing a dress I designed.
Is Nicki Minaj Running Out Of Ideas?
Just hear me out for a second, I am going somewhere with this.
So the highly anticipated video from my girl Nicki Minaj dropped today, for her hot song Starship. I actually like the song and I have it on my “putting on makeup get in the zone” playlist.
After watching the video, I was like…”where have I seen that Polynesian neon glow in the dark tribal theme before?” Then I was like, ” OMG, it looks exactly like Dallas Dellaforce performance from the March 2011 Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras!”
WHO? WHAT?
Why don’t you take a look at the pictures below and be the judge.
Coincidence?
I FINALLY Love Beyonce
I know I am usually very hard on the gazillion threat Beyonce, I still insist its because it is easy to critique someone who is on top. In Beyonce’s case… she is THE QUEEN B!
Watch her sing preach to her audience congregation below.
She is so interactive! I don’t know what took me so long to get into her awesomeness, good things come to those who wait I guess.
TGIF Hunniiii Dasssiiitttt!!!
Because I predict the return of the ankle strap stiletto pump, I am going to share with you a personal story of when my love for all things high heel was born.
I was sitting at home watching music videos in Kenya many years ago AND THEN, the Mariah Carey video for Honey premiered and changed my life forever.
I love the part where she swims in them… as if you don’t know what I am talking about. ENJOY!
Jully Black- Can You Feel It
The Canadian diva Jully Black gets crunk in her video to accompany the song, Can You Feel It. Its a different sound for her but it totally works.
I liked it and can picture myself dancing to it. Actually, being African, I can shimmy and shake to anything with percussions.
Nicki Minaj- Beez In The Trap
YES! This is the Nicki Minaj that I once fell in love with, remember when I introduced her to you way back in May 2010?
I am not a fan of the “cartoonish caricature” Nicki but, if she goes back to raunchy Nicki, I will totally have a crush on her again.
Enjoy the video for Nicki Minaj, Beez In The Trap (Explicit) ft. 2 Chainz
